Very few things lift my spirits like retail therapy. Yes, I do love watching Sundays at Augusta and weekend football marathons in the fall. But nothing beats a trip to the outlets or shopping for a new big-screen TV!

You can imagine my excitement then when HGTV and Bassett Furniture announced an exciting new partnership, the HGTV HOME Furniture by Bassett line. As recent first-time homebuyers, my wife Brandii and I were presented with the challenge of furnishing an empty house. The “college look” we kept in our apartment – it’s been a “few” years since we graduated – wasn’t going to cut it in this new 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath, 2-story we call home.

First impressions are everything, so the living room was our focus as we walked into our nearby Bassett location. We’re both rabid Mad Men fans, so we wanted a mid-century modern feel. One though with a blend of colors you don’t come across every day: purple, citron and teal.

New at more than 80 Bassett locations across the country, this new HGTV HOME experience leverages Bassett’s 100+ year history of building quality home furnishings with the credibility and popularity of the HGTV brand. The Knoxville location was inundated with stylish and, just as important, well-priced furniture options and fabric options – more than 1,000 of them – perfectly suited for our mid-century modern needs. And our talented design consultant, Stephanie, helped create the perfect HGTV HOME custom look for our space – a chic, mid-century modern-inspired living space that will allow us to live like Don and Megan.
