We’re bursting with pride after learning the HGTV Green Home 2011 special is a finalist for the Environmental Media Awards in the Reality Television category. The EMA Awards celebrate leading film and television programs that have a positive environmental impact. That happens to be our goal in creating the half-hour Green Home program and companion website. Both make the case that an eco-friendly home can be attainable, affordable and — surprise, surprise — attractive.

And by the way, the Green Home itself has already been recognized with a Platinum LEED certification, the highest rating a home can earn within the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, and an Energy Star certification, which acknowledges its energy efficiency.

The EMA ceremony, set for October 15, will be a star-studded affair, with Colin Firth and Justin Timberlake among this year’s honorees.
