SNI Volunteers work with Travel Channel's partner, the National Parks Foundation, to help clean local parks.

Nearly 500 Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI) employees wrapped up their week by spending the day giving back to their local communities.  Every year, SNI designates an Employee Volunteer Day to give employees the option to spend the day volunteering with a non-profit cause that speaks to them.

“Many of our employees choose to give back at their child’s school, while others like to go out and work with one of our national partners,” explains Jerilyn Bliss, VP of Corporate Communications and the point person for SNI Employee Volunteer Day.  “This is a powerful way for us to give back as a company, as well as offer the chance for our employees to see and touch the important work our charitable partners are doing.”

SNI employees volunteered throughout the country today in partnership with Travel Channel’s national partner, the National Park Foundation. While some employees took to Rock Creek Park in D.C. to clean and maintain the park’s natural conditions, others were in Atlanta at Chastain Park and in Knoxville at the Great Smoky Mountain National Park to preserve trails and care for wildlife.

Additionally, some employees worked with home or food-oriented organizations like Scripps’ Content Distribution team who spent the morning preparing nutritious and delicious meals for the Ronald McDonald House in Knoxville.

“Scripps is a company that cares, and our employees do too,” says Bliss. “This year we did everything from clean out animal stalls to harvest community garden vegetables and even washed a car!”  You can learn more about all that Scripps Networks Interactive does to support communities by visiting snichangetheworld.com.
