It’s not often a television program nets an audience of 2 billion people. But that’s how many are expected to tune in to tonight’s 12.12.12 The Concert for Sandy Relief from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Our own Cooking Channel is one of 37 cable networks broadcasting the concert live and commercial-free to help raise money for those most affected by Superstorm Sandy.

Cooking Channel will broadcast the concert on-air promptly at 7:30pm ET and via livestream on its blog – an immediate broadcast for the West Coast will follow at Midnight. The concert will feature a star-studded lineup of musicians past and present, including Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Kanye West, The Who, and others. All event proceeds will go to benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund, an organization that partners with more than 200 non-profit groups in the New York City area to provide for the short- and long-term needs of those hardest hit by Sandy.

Cooking Channel’s airing of tonight’s event is part of Scripps Networks Interactive’s ongoing efforts to give in the aftermath of Sandy. We salute all the networks broadcasting tonight’s concert and those who have donated, and continue to donate, to storm disaster relief efforts.
